Blog EntryBecause I Care...Apr 19, '07 3:56 AM
for everyone
Warning: lengthy but definitely worthwhile post ahead. READ ON!

I found a printed copy of one of my blog entries at the back of our van. So that means papa read it so that means there is a possibility that he might have read even the mushy posts and the babaw posts. waaaaah! and an uncle who i haven't met in my whole life googled me (google-able na pa la ako! wow!)before he came home to get a gist of who we are as individuals and he told me he already read my blogs. waaaah! wala kayang kwenta mga pinagsusulat ko most of the time. but he commended that he likes my writing style *bows down*. Aside from the frequent commenters and my contacts, i don't know who else reads my blogs.

is my blog worth reading? i feel they are so self-centered nga eh. but heck. this is my multiply. so this is about me! ha! i did write something months back - It's a Shame and howie severino. yes the howie severino gave a comment. woohoo bigtime na ako! haha! if i am indeed an effective communicator, why the heck did i not take up communications arts? maybe there is a reason why fate made me take up environmental science and at the same time have a knack at writing so i can communicate to you all that...

WE NEED TO TAKE CARE OF OUR PLANET!!!

but even if i do like writing why the heck did i not join any of the publications in school?! isa pa la akong malaking tanga eh!  haha!

pero it frustrates me...saddens me...that apathy still hounders over some of my close friends. even my bestfriend does not know what An Inconvenient Truth is. if in my circle i only get a handful who i get to talk about my concerns that do not involve chismis, fashion, and love stories then ano pa ba sa buong mundo?

oh my i am turning into an activist.hehe!  I even swore i won't eat beef na (oh no those big juicy burgers!haha!) because methane is the second most significant greenhouse gas and cows are one of the greatest methane emitters. Their grassy diet and multiple stomachs cause them to produce methane, which they exhale with every breath (source: http://www.climatecrisis.net)

MAINIT BA??

kung ang sagot mo ay "pucha pare oo over sa init!" eh di indikasyon na yon na we are hotter now. haha! that the planet is warming up. yes it is summer this side of the world but was this THIS hot years back? no!

blah blah nabobore na nman kayo kasi binabasa niyo lang kung tungkol sa lablyp or sa sapatos ko sinusulat ko noh? haha!

Global warming is a natural process for us not to get toasted by the sun's heat. but the increase in carbon and other greenhouse gases emissions brought by industries, our cars, cutting of trees, increase in garbage waste dumped into landfills, and a whole myriad of anthropogenic activities (activities of man) trap more heat (instead of the natural cycle that some heat gets released into space after it enters). Because of this heat increase, polar ice caps are melting which causes massive flooding, it becomes hotter over the earth's oceans where we all know storms and typhoons originate (which explains the frequent occurance of typhoons) end point! our climate is changing! and when are we going to make a move to protect our earth. we have an inter-generational responsibility to make sure we still have the resources that we have for our children's children's children.

WHAT CAN WE DO?

it is not too late. i will be a hypocrite if i say i am living a 100% eco-friendly lifestyle because i am not. putek we don't even segregate here in our house. but i am making a pact with myself to work my way towards that. i am starting with these...

  • toned down consumerism. (pero puwde pa ba ako maghoard ng damit?! haha)
  • recylcing
  • use less hot water
  • buy things in minimal packages (when i buy at 7-11 or mini-stop i opt not to have my purchases bagged)
  • don't smoke (we'll i really don't but a certain guy has converted. thankyouverymuch) - nasave mo na health mo nasave mo pa ang earth. oh di ba hero ka! apir!
  • use as little plastic as possible
  • unplug electronics when un-used. good thing extension wires now have switches i know how nkakatamad it is to pull out that plug
  • at eh toh!!!! alam kong lahat tayo guilty nito - when your celphone is fully-charged unplug the charger. even if the phone is no longer connected the charger is still taking up electricity.

I'd like to share a cute pic. These are Pinky and Perky from southwestern England and their caretakers gave them iced lollies of carrots and other vegetables to protect them from possible heat stroke.

I don't have the assurance that you read this to its end but if you did thank you so much. because I care I will not tire in getting the message across and I can only do that through this blog. At least, for now...

i wander over to your blog sometimes, camille. :) you have a really refreshing style of writing. and those "mababaw" posts make your blog multidimensional, if what i said made sense. :) congrats on graduating.
